Breast Reduction
Do Your Large Breasts Prevent You From Enjoying Life to the Fullest?
Many women suffer from overly large breasts that are disproportionate to their bodies. The result can be physical discomfort or a shape that makes you feel self-conscious about the clothing you wear and the activities you participate in. Whatever the reason you may be considering breast reduction, Longwood Plastic Surgery can help.
How Does Breast Reduction Work?
Breast reduction surgery may be performed in a hospital or in our office-based surgical suite under general anesthesia. The procedure reduces the breast tissue volume while removing excess skin and lifting and shaping the breast. At LPS, we pride ourselves on using techniques that limit scarring, using “short scar” approaches on most of our patients. The surgery itself usually takes about two hours and is typically done on an outpatient basis.
LPS surgeons perform over 300 reductions a year on women aged 16 to mid-80s. We are very comfortable with the procedure and we pride ourselves on making each patient’s experience individualized and unique.

Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction is usually performed for both physical relief and cosmetic improvement. Most women who have the surgery are troubled by disproportionately large, sagging breasts that restrict their activities and cause them physical discomfort. If this sounds familiar and you’re ready to significantly improve your quality of life, it might be time to consider breast reduction at Longwood Plastic Surgery.
For our younger patients, breast reduction is not performed until a woman’s breasts are fully developed; however, it can be done earlier if large breasts are causing serious physical discomfort. The best candidates are those who are mature enough to fully understand the procedure and have realistic expectations about the results.
